Sorry we werent able to email yesterday cause it was president's day and the library and school were both CLOSED! So sad! But I'm so excited to email today and tell you how the week went.
First of all, my
predictions were 100% right, I got a little white girl from SLC, Utah.
Her name is Sister Huch. She's adorable and she's from a cartoon or
something I can't even describe her. She's super different from Heck,
but I love them both to death.
The baptism was beyond fantastic! The best moment was while she was
changing, her twin sister sang a couple of hymns, just solo, no piano,
nada. Everything just felt so reverent. The air was so sacred. My eyes
started leaking this weird salty water. Even the emotionless
hard-as-rock Sister Heck cried like a little baby. The spirit was
undeniable. The testimony she bore after her baptism was ridiculous. She
stood up and said "This is the happiest I have ever been in my whole
life. I know now that I am a true daughter of God, and I will have his
spirit with me always." She still gets a lot of opposition from her mom.
The twins were supposed to go to the temple this Saturday, but couldn't
get the parents approval to leave the house. Both of them are coming
out with us for lessons today, and I am so excited. Such strong
testimonies.
Tuesday I said my goodbyes to Heck. We had an awesome last
companionship inventory and a sleepover in the living room. She actually
gave me a for real hug for the first time when we said goodbye and I
fake cried while singing "Best of Friends" from Fox and the Hound. She
sang along fake crying too. That is what love is. She also left a
left-hand drawn valentine in my mailbox that I found Thursday and a
bunch of paper hearts and a drawing of us that said GOO GOO MONSTER AND
LOLA I LUV U. Nothing has ever made me happier. I miss that girl, but
shortly after we were separated, I was reunited with my girls from the
MTC! Johnson and Fackrell are both training as well! Johnson spent the
night at our apartment since she serves in St. Michael's. I screamed and
ran into her arms when I saw her. Same with Fackrell. It feels like a
lifetime has gone by since the MTC and yet it feels like I was just
there. I saw Wilson at Walmart as well, and screamed and hugged her for
ten hours.
I was so frazzled Huch's first day, I had no idea how to keep track
of all the planning and back ups and lessons all by my lonesome.
Besides that, I don't know the area at all so I'm constantly living in
Anxiety Central, with frequent visits to Panic Park. The wrinkled old
ripped map has become my best friend. Sister Huch is very patient with
me. She's super positive and very cute. Like CUTE cute. like pinch faces
and squish and cuddle cute. She is cuddly and huggy and I am so
relieved to have her personality, it's exactly what I need at this
point. We got three new investigators, and one of the investigators who
was at the baptism is now on date for March 1st!
We taught a young woman who was raised Jehovah's Witness and heard
her pray for the first time in years. She had felt so betrayed and
abandoned, and realized that God had never turned His back on her. Lots
of tears in that lesson. I am blessed to witness such beautiful reunions
between God and his children.
For Valentines day we had Olive Garden and one of the members gave
us boxes of chocolates! Another investigator gave us plastic roses. Also
a creepy guy next door left a card on our doorstep with his number on
it. Eeeeehhhhhhhhhhhchhhchch.
I love you all and have missed you especially lots and lots since I've had a crazy week!!
The
pictures are at the baptism, please ignore how Chinese I look. Jesse
was the one who baptized her. And the friend behind me is the one who
sat next to her at sacrament meeting the week she got her answer from
God that the church was true! Sister Huch is being cute in one of them,
and I am eating breakfast with her in another.
